Re: APNR cameras

I thought uninsured was running at about 20%. Be that as it may, the trick would be having the resources to catching them Indeed. Automatic enforcement relies entirely on dvla having accurate keeper details. What are the odds if you're uninsured the v5 is also pointing to a different address? :roll...

Re: Run flats to 'normal tyres'

Type of tyre won't affect the pressure monitoring :) That's usually based on measuring wheel speeds. It depends. I wouldn't say usually. Increasing numbers of cars have valves with pressure sensors in. Some cars are smart enough to go "hey, I've got readings from 4 sensors in my vicinity, they...

Re: Life sentences

No current law requires suspects to take a body-fluids check. The link explains why this is now needed. I expect one of the various random bits of existing anti-terror legislation could be abused for such a reason, since they're already abused so widely  Do you think a pissed-up fighty person...

Life sentences

Is tougher sentencing really the answer, or is it actually to put some trafpol back on the roads so people have a fear of being caught as a deterrent?

Re: New Audi ad.

Yes, and it raises the obvious question of why are we filling cars with technology instead of getting the bloody clowns off the roads :soap:

Modern cars generally have much less glass. Higher door lines, wider pillars.

Re: Travel sickness?

Cars have climate control, pollen filters, NVH is probably a lot better too. But yes, when the cat was on the way out on the Elise, I did sometimes get stinking headaches. I don't with the Caterham, but that was never designed to have a cat (and I guess I never run with a full roof).

Re: Riding a bicycle without brakes

It's an argument that has been going on for some time and more civilised nations have better public spaces, because their relationship with motor vehicles is not tainted by the spirit of Moore-Brabazon. More civilised nations have either lower population densities or a less precious attitude about ...

Re: Reg Local at Bristol IAM, 30 September 2017

You are all missing the point ... it is illegal. Wrong spacing as well as missing the makers info etc. I looked into this a few years ago when trying to find a way to display the front number plate on my MX-5 without recourse to Mazda's rather flimsy plastic "plinth". This bit of the law ...
