How long before some motorcyclists feel as safe on a bike as they do in a car and ride accordingly

Re: Bus Lanes
Hi No it is a civil penalty raised by the local authority, no points. There is a 100 meter bus lane in Manchester on a main road where a large number of Learners turn right across the traffic to drive to the test centre. The revenue from the camera on this lane pays the city councils chief execs tea...

Re: Speed limiters
I just see this having the opposite of the desired effect. Driver "The vehicle is limited to the speed limit which must be a safe speed" so no thought by the driver and ends up hitting a tree at the first bend. Or drives the same bit of road at the limited speed through the summer then get...

Many older riders will complete their riding career never having heard of countersteering, most stopping when they want to
The problem with that is when they get into a situation they tend to turn the bars away from the danger which sends the bike towards it.

“Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.” – Douglas Bader And look what happened when he broke the rules  [Unpublished accounts suggested that, when his case came in front of the military tribunal, he was advised that he didn't have a leg to stand on :drums: ] L...

Re: Proposed changes to the Highway Code?
I have been in small German towns late at night with hardly a car on the road and the locals still wont cross the road until there is a green man illuminated for them to cross. I would not call that "educated". That, to me, is simply blind obedience. Yes I would agree with you but they ar...

Re: Proposed changes to the Highway Code?
The really scary bit of this is Cyclists and Pedestrians will see this and think they are no longer responsible for their own safety. They will see it as everyone else has to look out for them. I foresee this actually causing a raise in the KSI. I know they are basing this on some EU states, but hav...

Re: Single track or nearly...
It also might help to imagine a parent with a pushchair on the inside of the blind bend, just out of sight. Here is another similar thought HWC R2 for Pedestrians It may be safer to cross the road before a sharp right hand bend so that on coming traffic has a better chance of seeing you cross back ...

Hi
Imagine around every bend there is a bale tractor with the tines pointed in your direction. Works for me
Had a few close calls on road like that both on the bike and in the car. Usually locals in dirty 4 x 4s who travel the road every day and normally meet no one.
