Re: Smee's test - specifics
Yes of course it's anecdotal but I did start my post by saying I dont have official statistics, but I do do high mileage and see a lot. To date I've driven around 930,000 miles or so (based on the buy/sell mileages of cars I've owned). Where do I see most accidents - specifically 4 areas. Lane 2/3 w...

Re: Smee's test - specifics
Yes I understand and I get that, and Ive no idea of the official statistics, but I sometimes drive 50k miles in a year, and I rarely see anyone indicate on a joining slip, but equally I rarely see accidents where the joining slip meets lane 1, so it appears to me on the face of it that signalling/no...

Re: Smee's test - specifics
Ah yes, the early 'wake them up' signal when on the joining slip. I do this. Always a debate generator. If the slip is visible to lane one drivers then I tend to get the signal on nice and early, rather than wait until I'm about to move right into lane 1. I do this too and I like the 'wake them up'...

Re: Requirements for paid driving work
I presume that a company's employee driving a customer doesn't come under private hire, it may depend on how you structure the relationship with the restaurants... Alasdair Years ago, landlord of a local bought a minibus to take 'tired' customers home. Service ended abruptly when he was told he nee...

Re: Requirements for paid driving work
It would depend if the customers are paying extra for the service of being collected and dropped off, or it's included as part of their restaurant bill. If it isn't, and they're paying extra for the service, then I think then that would probably be classed as private hire. It's a similar situation ...

Re: Requirements for paid driving work
I did see that thank you but it raised more questions than answers ..... Let me add some more info which may (or may not!) help. Ive been approached by the owners of the local restaurant there asking if I would pick up their customers from local b&b's (there are no hotels) take them to the resta...

Requirements for paid driving work
Im looking to move to the Inner Hebrides. I will be undertaking tourism related work across a number of areas (b&b etc). There is an option to do some paid driving work and also unpaid/voluntary driving (community minibus). My question is, do I need any special licence/certificates for the follo...
