Re: Mobile phones
I'm going for a long trip to Italy tomorrow. So plenty of empty french autoroutes. I do this every year and unless I'm on the phone or listening to a very interesting audiobook, I tend to fall asleep. In this instance, using the phone or listening to the audiobook is helping me to stay sharp. In fac...

Re: Mobile phones
Maybe those who have so much faith in the 'studies' might try to explain why the accident rate hasn't soared since the widespread adoption of mobile phones? Even hand held use (which is obviously common, foolish and, rightly, illegal), doesn't seem to be all that dangerous in purely statistical ter...

Re: Mobile phones
In the 70s, AD came about as an answer to cops crashing all the time. So a system was designed for them to keep chasing baddies at high speed, but without the risk of crashing. 70s? Blimey . . . they kept that quiet! . . . the British police's system of car and motorcycle control commonly known as ...

Re: Mobile phones
sorry, that is not a state I want to live in - while someone can make a brief hands-free call and do so without degrading their driving sufficiently to become dangerous, then I would wish to support the freedom for drivers to be responsible for making that choice... I go back to my earlier question...

Re: Mobile phones
The studies DO show increased risk caused by the distractions resulting from the processing involved in a conversation with somebody not in the vehicle. I'm disappointed (although no longer surprised) when so many are prepared to dismiss the findings, without even reading them. This is not directed...

Re: Mobile phones
Maybe the problem is not the phone, hands-free or not, or even the conversation. Instead, it is our mistrust for other people's ability to make their own decisions in a responsible and reasonable fashion, including with regards to the use a phone on the move. Personally I am unable to have a simple ...

I used to do that before I started AD. Oh well...

Re: 15000 miles later
just after starting the car, no amount of reasonable force will make the gear lever slot into 2nd, with the clutch fully depressed, unless the engine revs are manipulated. Have you tried a DDC without blipping? Some of my more experienced friends tend to think that a DDC upshift only makes a differ...

Re: 15000 miles later
It's been a long time since I drove a 350Z (never driven a 370), but I do remember it being a difficult car to change gear in smoothly, having a very heavy clutch and a very sensitive throttle. I'm more used to cars like that now, but it's still a tricky combination. That's precisely why I love it....
