Re: used 911 or tuned MX5 ?

Neither. BRZ/GT86 or unmodified MX5 ND for fun at legal (or even not so legal) speeds, or Caterham if you want something properly raw. Oh look what's in my garage  993 is the last of the analogue 911s. :P If you're feeling brave, cheap Boxster S for half the budget? BRZ/GT86 just too slow. sor...

used 911 or tuned MX5 ?

For about 15k or 21k you can have a tuned (turbo, suspension, clutch, brakes....) mx5 (mk3) with 310 or 360 bhp respectively, or you can also have a used 996 or 997 (gen 1) respectively. Which one would you choose for fun and spirited fast road driving? In the mx5 corner: super cheap to run, insure ...

Not to worry; the government's on it: http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/mobile-phones-cars-block-ban-moving-vehicles-government-technology-a7483871.html As one of the guy commenting put it: "What is this magic technology that the DfT has discovered that can tell the diff...

Re: Mobile phones

It is more complicated than that. Research the 'share space' initiative, and you will realise that removing the laws makes drivers more able to drive without laws and more able to make sound decisions, whereas introducing more and more laws has the opposite effect, drivers tend to become less and le...

Re: 20 MPH limits

These limits are here to stay and as I mentioned before are in wide use across the EU and elsewhere. However there is a difference in the UK in that the reduced limit has not been coupled with increased priority for pedestrians. In other countries the various Highway Codes have been adapted to incl...

Re: Mobile phones

Yeah, should be obvious. Why it isn't is still a mystery to me: they look for red apples, and when they find green ones, they dismiss them as not being apples.
Still going through the studies but it's disheartening to see the amount of bullshit they contain.

Re: Mobile phones

you're creating a strawman by comparing research into texting while driving with research into using a mobile phone hands-free. I am not comparing anything at all. I am asking you a very simple question. You claim that the research is biased and paid for by those with a pre-determined outcome in mi...

Re: Mobile phones

I'm going for a long trip to Italy tomorrow. So plenty of empty french autoroutes. I do this every year and unless I'm on the phone or listening to a very interesting audiobook, I tend to fall asleep. In this instance, using the phone or listening to the audiobook is helping me to stay sharp. In fa...
