Mobile phones

The Daily Mail's got its knickers in a twist over drivers using their mobiles at the wheel (especially foreign truck drivers after a mother and 3 children were killed) Now IIRC, the fine was recently increased to £100 with 3 points and it can be up to £2,500 for HGV drivers. But this doesn't seem to...

Re: EU countries.

Oh, I thought it would be something cultural, or their driving discipline rather than plain geography

Austria is in the EU anyway, and if you believe some people, Switzerland signs up to all EU directives

Re: Smart Meters - your advice please!

Angus, my meter still goes backwards, but I doubt if that makes much difference other than a placebo effect. The FIT payment, as you know, is based on your FIT meter readings, not on some magical interpretation of what current is flowing in or out of your main meter. Ah, but in addition to your FIT...

Re: Smart Meters - your advice please!

Re: Breathalysing proceedure

The "someone suggested" is on a par with the "incident involving a car like yours" that I had some years ago. They stopped me bacause it was 2am and England had played an international that evening but couldn't say that. It's an excuse because they're not allowed to do random tes...

Re: Blues and Twos and Traffic Lights

What sort of car was it? ie clearly a "traffic" car with a trained driver or something like a Focus driven by a numpty? The reference to "logs" is a joke, as I found a few years ago. I'd heard the siren so was alert to a situation, though being between the ambulance station and t...
