Re: Insurance again.
I cancelled my insurance with Adrian Flux today but, firstly the amount of the policy cost refundable had altered considerably since I phoned on Monday. When I enquired of the reason, I was told that the amount I was told on Monday was only if I took up another policy with them. I did not do this a...

Re: Bought a new Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic
I enjoyed the different approach taken by Tesla. The price is the price on the website, and you order it via the web from the comfort of your armchair  No negotiations, it is what it is. If you have a p/ex they simply farm the details iout to a couple of brokers and pass on the price they are...

Re: EV sales down
The SMMT are not keen on EV’s for fairly obvious reasons... Perhaps I'm thick... I doubt that :) EV’s are generally not seen as being good news to the traditional ICE manufacturers who are heavily invested in their current business models. EV’s with lower running costs and far fewer moving parts th...

Re: EV sales down
Much of the range anxiety mindset is due to our experiences with laptops and phones, where 20% can turn into 1% at the blink of an eye. That just doesn't happen as EV's have battery management systems to prevent this. Why do you think the coders for EVs are any better at guessing that those writing...

Re: EV sales down
Won't be long before we see AA vans with a giant battery and jump leads. That's where EV's don't have a get out of jail card, unlike the jerry can that breathes life back into an ICE car. A flat bed truck to the nearest charge point, and then a wait of "some time" - this being dependent o...

Re: EV sales down
For me, they're going to need to be a *lot* cheaper before I could even consider dipping a toe in the water. For one thing, I need a decent size car with a lot of boot space for work and so the current entry-level models wouldn't cut it, and that's before we consider the range. Whilst *most* of my ...

Re: EV sales down
The SMMT are not keen on EV’s for fairly obvious reasons, and I can offer a couple of reasons for the dip. These being the retooling of the Zoe production line and the pause in deliveries before the introduction of the new Nissan LEAF. I suspect Tesla deliveries will also have been down as there was...

Re: I-Pace
Presumably heat produced by the machine is being ducted away. Maybe the car could use a winter setting that routes it via the cabin. TBH I don’t think the motors generate much heat, at least I’ve not read about them doing so. The battery certainly, and keeping that at the best operating temperature...

Re: I-Pace
Can you plumb in one of those little bar heaters? After all, they're electric! I'm not sure of the heater size that's built in. It feels like about 500W. It's got a 22kWh battery, so I reckon they could risk 1kW or so, since I don't expect to go more than 4 hours on a single charge, even driving in...
