Re: Hello from West Sussex

Sounds like you're having fun :) I am enjoying the experience, and I am looking forward to taking the test. Going back to the left hand bends, Horse has quoted two different mnemonics which cover why to position, and the result of the positioning. Safety, view, advantage tells you why it might be u...

Ditto Triquet

Put all of this behind you and enjoy the experience from now on.

Good luck in your test - let us know how you get on.

You should be proud of her. At least she is not at the other end of the scale. :)

I'm immensely proud of her.

Re: Hello from West Sussex

Just a quick update! I had an observed drive this morning and am feeling really chuffed with myself. I scored a '2' on my commentary - which I was pleased with. However, it was the only '2' I scored today - I achieved '1's in everything else and my observer has said he will arrange a pre-test drive ...

Re: Citigo - 300 miles later.

Congratulations! My daughter has just passed her 2nd year of Physics at Sussex and loves the course (she gets her brains from her Dad). Is she doing a Msc or a Bsc course? Mini Bumblebee has decided not to do the Masters. She is a mature student and didn't go down the conventional route to get to u...

Re: Citigo - 300 miles later.

Congratulations! My daughter has just passed her 2nd year of Physics at Sussex and loves the course (she gets her brains from her Dad). I was excited last week because my Renault Clio had travelled 100,000 miles - I've had her from almost new (it had 58 miles on the clock when I bought it). She stil...

Re: Hello from West Sussex

One of Chris Gilbert's tips on learning commentary driving is to separate driving and commentary by sitting in the passenger seat and providing the commentary as someone else drives. It might be worth a try. I had thought about doing that. I don't think I will get an opportunity to be a passenger b...

Re: Hello from West Sussex

it might be that actually raising your view / eyes up the windscreen would help a lot, sometimes drivers have a view which is just in front of the car - that gives you very little time to react... in an urban setting you will of course be continually flicking between close and medium distance - on ...

Re: Hello from West Sussex

Well done, sounds like you're doing great - Hope you're enjoying it too Thanks for the link. I watched the video this afternoon, when I found a quiet moment. I am sure that I will be watching it several more times before my next observed drive, and putting it into practice! I have been enjoying the...

Re: Hello from West Sussex

Thanks for all your help last week. My observed drive went well yesterday and feedback for the left hand bends was much better. Next lesson, we are going to start commentary driving (eek) and manoeuvring. Therefore, I have lots of homework to do before then (You Tube, I assume for the commentary dri...
