Re: DVSA Tests and Lessons to Resume
I am not an ADI and as such see the observing I do as falling in the “private practice” definition and therefore should not be undertaking observing just yet until the social distancing rules allow it. But it's not private practice. You are delivering a course for which someone has paid money. Yes,...

Re: DVSA Tests and Lessons to Resume
What the IAM appear to overlook in today’s Government bulletin on car driving instruction is that it is clearly directed at ADIs, in order to reboot the professional driving instructing industry and testing bodies. Whilst these sectors are not working they will continue to be a financial burden to G...

Re: DVSA Tests and Lessons to Resume
The current situation seems fairly clear; we should avoid sharing a private vehicle with anyone outside of our household or support bubble as we will not be able to keep to strict social distancing guidelines, and from July 4th that doesn't change to any significant degree. I think you've summed th...

Re: DVSA Tests and Lessons to Resume
I agree with you both. We don't need to take the risk. As Mark points out we are volunteers not in this for making a living.

Agreed David the 330d is a good choice for good performance and mpg. I can't remember the cost of filling up the 330d on the occasions I've driven them but I do remember they were not as expensive as I though they might be.

If candidates could use those techniques well and to their advantage, I would be delighted. Unfortunately it's rare even to see rev-matching attempted. But we digress... David Doesn't happen often, perhaps only 3 or 4 times in the 40+ years I've been an Observer. However I do get asked about them q...

Re: Saying hello from a government mandated safe distance
The AMG C63 is definitely a fun car to drive as is the AMG C62 (smaller engine twin turbo) but not so sure as to its suitability as a family car. Very expensive to run, eats rear tyres like hell. At least if you want to realise the cars potential. In some ways I like the M3s over the M5s but then th...

Re: Always be able to stop in the distance....
Only a guess but I would think they would need to drive close together, particularly in heavy traffic, to avoid other vehicles including bikes and cycles from breaking into the convoy. This would mean loss stopping distance and it would be up to the following protection units to look far enough beyo...

Re: Saying hello from a government mandated safe distance
Welcome Hugh. I am also an owner of a 7.5 Golf R and am very pleased with it. It’s got just enough power to make it of interest but is at the low end of fun power. The version 8, possibly due out the end of next year, is said to have more power, not a lot more but every bit helps. Look forward to me...
