Re: EU - where did it go wrong?

As an external observer with some understanding of politics: Isn't the reason for splitting ways with the EU the result of the UK just not feeling a part of it? The EU is essentially an attempt at creating what is one big country. But, in a world still dominated by national ideas, such big countrie...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

Wow! Progress. Looks like you've skipped stage 3 and moved straight onto stage 4. At this rate you'll be normal by tomorrow. Nah, I'm at stage 7. I'm going to drink myself into a stupor tonight. :) Or you could man up, accept the democratic vote, try just one little tiny bit to understand those who...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

I'm confused about what you mean by freedom and independence. A brief look through history will tell you that we have never had either of those; we've not had complete freedom from our neighbours nor complete independence from them. If we are doing that now, gaining true independence and genuine fr...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

You should hear some of my overly intellectual or London-based friends then. They're either railing against the idiots who voted leave or doomsaying how badly off Insanity's generation are going to be once it all pans out - probably/possibly. Well they'll just have to learn to cope then, as did tho...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

We've voted to leave. 52% to 48%. I hope you're all fucking happy. I hereby complain about your entirely unnecessary use of foul language which, regrettably, provides confirmation of your immaturity.. Now please, Alasdair, do something about that! FWIW, I do think we've got the right result, albeit...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

Correction to my last; The rest of the members of one of the greatest groups of separate nations in the world, have made one thing perfectly plain! There will be no concessions and we must leave as soon as possible. There is no mood amongst our fellow members to offer any type of bargain. Why on ear...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

The other members of the EU have made it perfectly plain that there will be few concessions.
Why on earth would they wish to give any?
This is not going to be a happy divorce (there's no real grounds for it)and the bitterness will last for generations.
We haven't even begun to see the worst of it yet.

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

I've heard Lidl are doing last years fashion black shirts at a bargain price. It'll save commissioning Hugo Boss and they fade less in the sun than purple.
Or, so I am reliably informed.

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

The murder of an MP cannot be forgotten by anyone with an ounce of thinking and feeling. Some say the man is mentally unwell, which may be the case. It is also plain that his hatred, and that of many others, has been nurtured and indeed encouraged. There is a darker agenda with many of these people ...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

for those with kids (or grandkids) old enough to vote - have you asked what they think? If they are able to vote then why should their views be given greater value than other voters? Our company has the opposite problem - the UK is not providing enough skilled engineers, so we have no option but to...
