Censorship and derailment

Rather than censorship when threads drift, and closing threads arbitrarily when they drift, wouldn't it be better to let the members do their own censorship by allowing them to post or not as they see fit. However well intentioned, I'm surprised that Alisdaire thinks it's appropriate to lock a threa...

Re: The state of roads.

I think you'll find in central Cambridge that the roads are three inches wide and the rest is given over to cyclists, many of whom will quite happily cycle against traffic. The cyclist the other day was going with the flow of traffic, but decided he could make better progress by cycling at speed on...

Re: The state of roads.

He wasn't the only one to have read your post that way. just sayin' TripleS - that's a shame, I've always enjoyed your posts :( Then you have also misunderstood the comments. As Dave mentioned, the written word is notoriously difficult to get the meaning. However, I'm struggling to see where on ear...

Re: The state of roads.

I'm not suggesting in any way that he wasn't an idiot. I've seen plenty of organ donors in my time. Now I appreciate the typed word is an undoubtedly imperfect medium, but the tone of your post suggested to me the idea that, because you're such a l33t driver (see, I can get down with the kiddies wi...

Re: The state of roads.

Back on topic - ish for SD, I was also a member of the tufty club mid 1970s, I think I have still got the handkerchief somewhere! Ref. cyclists, we have a lot of issues with them around here - singly, in packs and even organised racing on the road, I tend to be pretty patient with them, but the iss...

Re: The state of roads.

The cyclist the other day was going with the flow of traffic, but decided he could make better progress by cycling at speed on the pavement. Fortunately, I based my driving plan around the premise that not only was he inconsiderate, he was likely to be a really poor rider with no spatial awareness ...

Re: The state of roads.

As I say, it depends which part of the country you come from. I see many cyclists every day on my 30 mile commute and it never fails to surprise me how little roadcraft they exhibit. It's not just about riding through red lights, riding on the pavement etc. It's the ridiculous things they do like pu...

Re: The state of roads.

Whenever I come across a buffoon of cyclists I always wonder why no one has actually said to them do you know how stupid you look. You're cycling to work, we all know that you are not a professional racer. However, I could put up with them if they weren't so dangerous and arrogant, although I apprec...

Re: What Happened?

And thus the insurance companies will be puzzled and ponder over that small group of drivers who seem to travel at a much higher pace than average without ever having incidents. .......and the insurance companies will then ignore and dismiss the data, as it doesn't fit their preconceived ideas of t...
