Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"

Hence why my phone is switched off when I'm driving, not that I would use it any way. Infuriates the wife, but at least I get some peace and quiet, especially as there are so many nuisance calls these days. Driving back down the M40 from the NEC on Sunday evening we caught up with an SUV in lane one...

Re: Pavement parking?

Most garages where I live are now too small for the increasing waistline of modern cars. The houses were built in the early 1970s, and up to about 25 years ago it was possible to get an average sized family car (Peugeot 405) in, all be it a bit tight. There is no way that my wifes Octavia estate wou...

Re: First accident...

Sorry to hear about the prang. Annoying and infuriating as it is, you will learn from it. Relying on coffee to keep you awake and going without food is not a good idea, see Don Palmers website. He gives advice about nutrition for driving. Although the website is probably more about track driving, th...

Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"

For anyone with no idea at all of what Angus was posting about, which included me, there's a report here . Driver 1 stops his truck, while partially drunk, in lane 1. He's convicted of dangerous driving. His licence had been revoked at the time. Minibus driver stops behind the stationary truck, for...

Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"

So the court case has ended, with one lorry driver being convicted (rightly) and the other cleared (surprisingly in my opinion). But no mention has been made of what could be the contributory negligence by the minibus driver. From the traffic camera footage, traffic was light at the time and he sho...

Re: Hartside Cafe - no more

Never used the cafe, but I love driving the A686. Wide open veiws, fast open stretches along with tight bends. Its the route we take out of Penrith when we go up to Bellingham in Northumbria.

Reg Local has footage covering cornering using the A686.

Re: Graduated licensing again

Most instructors use demonstrations. For instance, when teaching a turn in the road to illustrate the slowness of the cars speed compared to the speed of steering needed. Usually at slow speed the steering doesn't need to be brisk, and a pupil might not appreciate the benifits. A demonstration illus...

Just like the one I posted on the A35 just East of Dorchester. Damned dangerous.
