Re: Accommodation in Bristol

It could be worth joining lots of local Facebook groups - for example we are in the BS9 group but there are many for every area - pick desirable areas, join the group and then ask..

That budget should be possible - I was just illustrating the cost of the private student accommodation!

Re: Driving with DSG

As mentioned above we bought an Ateca a year ago, however ours is the 2.0 petrol and has the paddles, it is very responsive, but that still can make it challenging to drive smoothly - with the f-type it is far more intuitive - the car basically drives as an auto but lets you over-ride with manual mo...

Re: Driving to the conditions?

I think it is a combination of things - had she been doing 20 and been more observant she would have been covering the brakes / baking off in seeing the children…

As with many such incidents observation is probably the key flaw and the yet speed the headline note

Re: Driving to the conditions?

I am not sure that if I were the driver I would appeal - I think they have got away lightly with only 60% allocation of blame... the Highway Code has its 'new' hierarchy of road users which firmly puts more responsibilities onto a car driver, and even before that there has long been an obligation to...

HPC Young Drivers' Day 2023 - age raised to under 30

Just been having a chat with those who run this - and a decision has been made to extend the upper age on this to under 30 rather than under 26 - the logic being that it covers more people who may have reached 25 and been able to afford slightly nicer cars etc. So if you have wanted to do this and p...

Re: High-Performance Award for bike clobber

To be fair, I heard a similar tale from Snell (when they had a test centre at Farnham). Developing a test standard for horse riders' helmets. Do some sums, estimate how much oompf (SI unit doncha know) a hoss could put into a hoof. Laugh. Halve it. Think for a moment. Halve it again. That'll be as ...

Re: Roundabouts, routeboards and lane choice

Welcome to the forum! There isn't always a right or wrong regarding roundabouts - the Highway Code is interesting as it says: https://www.highwaycodeuk.co.uk/roundabouts.html "watch out for all other road users already on the roundabout; be aware they may not be signalling correctly or at all&q...
