Re: Tyres - available grip during cornering?
Over salting is a big issue, but trying to get reasonable discussion with anyone from the councils is impossible. It's just thrown back at you that "you are just a pleb MOP and you don't understand'. I do know the roads are more slippery in the winter than they used to be. I do know they salt a...

Re: Tyres - available grip during cornering?
Had a couple of big slides this winter on the bike. Front wheel, confidence draining, ones. More to do with fine silty cr*p in the wet rather than the tyre compound being the issue. Modern tyres are amazing compared with what we rode on in the late 70s and early 80s. The car hasn't experienced any i...

Re: Time lapse of highwat crash in Iowa
Keeping a two -second gap to he vehicle in front is quite a challenge with others dropping in to such a large space. Fixed that for you.. Anyone got a car with a adaptive cruise control? I've never driven one. Do you find yourself continually being pushed back in the flow of traffic as vehicles pin...

Interesting. It picked up the moped (with jammed pedal freewheel) joining in front of it. It still jinked right when the moped stopped in its way but then thought better of it. Looked a bit jerky/reactionary. Drivers hands resting on his legs/lap looked a bit nervous! Also I don't know the road rule...

How, other than lift your foot off the brake?

...My Clio has it to get through some emissions hoops. I have to turn it off each time I start the engine as it can't be permanently switched off. Why do you turn it off? Seriously? Because it keeps turning the engine off! OK, I'll explain. It's just an abomination. Pull up at a RAB. Engine stops. ...

Do any bikes have engine stop-start systems? [Yes filtering yada yada ;) ] Some of the scooters do. Honda PCX125 has (had?) it. I don't know of any 'real' motorcycles that do (big wheels, not step thru etc). My Clio has it to get through some emissions hoops. I have to turn it off each time I start...

Pollution is going up , yet every junction redesign (certainly in Ipswich), is made to slow cars down and reduce flow (traffic lights, removing lanes, adding bollards to prevent 2 lanes where only single is designated, changing RABs from dual entry to single ... I could go on). Vehicles sitting stil...
