Re: Comments from ADI...
IIRC the fastest reaction time is around 0.7 seconds, for most it is more. Two seconds probably covers most drivers. As an associate rider I am often told by my observer that I need to close up more when an overtake might be about to become possible. I don’t necessarily have to overtake but the exam...

Re: Motorcycle videos
As a motorcycle rider you often have a view over the top of a lot of cars so it’s not always necessary to pull out to the right to get a view of some sort.

Re: Oh deary me ...
I’m not entirely sure that neds on cheap motorbikes and bangers, that they intend to set fire to, are likely to take much notice of a lowered speed limit. It is not clear if these individuals are the ones responsible for the 57% of road deaths that occur on rural roads, or if the change in speed lim...

I wonder if that’s something that Chris Gilbert might have said on one of his DVDs. I don’t have time to rewatch them to confirm that.

Re: Reg Local - IAM Masters
I have wrenched a thumb due to it being hooked on the spoke but it was off-road in a Land-Rover. It was a combination of low-geared steering and sudden impact with a rock in a rut that imparted a sideways force to one wheel. With current steering setups, including power assistance, I don’t see this ...

Re: Highway Code Review for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders
They can change priority as much as they like but when I’m crossing a road on foot, or on a bicycle (on a cycle path) I would rather pass behind a car than in front of it, even if the driver has brought it to a standstill,

Re: Search for understanding
The first time I stood on the pegs my heated jacket unplugged itself.
Riding from Guildford to Birmingham and back on A & B roads yesterday I was definitely slouching towards the end and made myself sit up straight which improved my view as well.

Re: Reg Local - How to pass an Advanced Motorcycle Test
Also, the advice is usually couched as push with the left hand to initially turn the wheel to the right which causes the bike to lean left and thus turn left, whereas I pull on the right bar to start the counter steer for a left turn. Just like when turning a steering wheel I feel that my fine contr...
