Re: All change
IMO, the only people who seem to want a "sportier" car are "enthusiasts" and motoring journalists (who also tend to be enthusiasts). Thanks goodness the manufacturers are starting to listen to the majority of buyers who couldn't give a flying fig about "handling" and &...

Re: All change
I'm well aware that I'm an edge case here... But even amongst the 'sportier' car manufacturers, there's been a huge move towards 'easy' over the last 20 years with a concurrent rise in 'over competent'. Drive a 1989 911 back-to-back with the latest 991 model version and it's obvious. This may be whe...

Re: All change
I have to agree with you on this. Too many modern cars feel sterile. Competent, but they don't induce any real emotion. I drove a couple of Seat Ibiza's, one with 140hp, and they both felt heavy and numb. Not good for a small car. Same with the VX Corsa and other cars I've tried. The last Mazda 2 o...

Re: All change
If only Skodas were as exciting as that! ;) By exciting you undoubtedly mean barely quicker than a mobility scooter and a joke on the part of our Indian counterparts. Still, at least it wasn't a French quadricycle which is an abomination unless fitted with a diesel engine, covered liberally with Te...

Re: One of the dozen
True, but I guess that that population is tiny and you can't cater for everyone... A good one for judicial review though.

Re: Some news for you!
For the sake of being argumentative. Like every other post you've made on here? <not inserting smiley because I'm in significant pain this morning and not resorting to profanity in my posting should be seen as a significant win> If you're only using 50% of the car's cornering potential, you're not ...

Re: All change
I have, sadly, driven a yellow Alfa. It had been 'race-prepared' which, sadly, meant that they'd put the loudest exhaust on, the worlds worst suspension kit and then covered both interior and exterior in Araldite and ram-raided Halfords. A Viking funeral would have been too good for that car.

Re: Some news for you!
I think I did in an earlier post, but for those too lazy to reach for the search button... The controlling force on the road is the limit point. You cannot go around corners at the limit of adhesion as you won't have enough forward vision to be able to stop in the distance you can see to be clear. T...

Re: One of the dozen
somehow, you managed to think that he wasn't taking care while driving when he encounters cyclists. StressedDave doesn't represent all motorists, only himself, yet you took him to task for something you have imagined about him. Incorrect. That isn't what I said. Re-read his post and then mine. You ...

Re: Some news for you!
That actually is cool. Utterly pointless, but cool. And I don't think 'Skoda' would have quite the same cachet.
