Re: No more classic cars allowed on motorways!

Just like some roads have bus lanes (and in the US, high occupancy lanes), I can see in the future we may have lanes on motorways that are only for autonomous vehicles (Eg to allow platooning). They'll still have to cope with idiots getting in the way though. As for 70 vs 80, I think m'way speeds ev...

Re: SAS Expert Training

"Croma driving courses are from £1,000 per person" :o

Doesn't sound like they're teaching much beyond IAM/Rospa. I wonder if the tutors have pixellated faces ;)

Re: Second thoughts on offsiding

If you train for one of the most dangerous manoeuvres to carry out on the road and become competent at it then there is no reason why you should get it wrong. Ok, I read it carefully, and found that bit particularly interesting :) No reason, ever? Do you really believe that? If you get it wrong, ar...

Re: Second thoughts on offsiding

Thanks, Jon. To clarify, are they "100+" locations? The reason I ask is because they are both different. The A832 example I would happily use the full width, but from the view Google provides there is already a full view of the road width and surface, so no view is added from using an ext...

Re: Second thoughts on offsiding

To answer both: Gareth: no, of course not. Stefluck: find a bend where offsiding at 100+ can be justified while maintaining a clear stopping distance to the nearside Surprise Horizon and take some photos please. Or just a Google maps Street view link will do. Whatever, those photos (however much th...

Re: First accident...

Living mainly in Spain and doing most of my driving on the mainland there is a form that is in general use for minor/some not so minor collisions. The drivers involved both fill it out then compare notes and sign it - that's it and no arguing beyond that point. It saves all this faffing around and ...

ADAS testing

http://www.iihs.org/iihs/news/desktopnews/evaluating-autonomy-iihs-examines-driver-assistance-features-in-road-track-tests It's nice to see someone starting to test and compare these systems but we're still a long way from having something that just works, and the corner cases suggest it's still not...

If you can't win, you need something with more power

Re: Rospa price increase

That was nicely hidden. All I saw was some drivel about member benefits so I didn't bother reading the rest of the mail. That's almost grounds in itself to dump them. :x
