Re: Shocking driving? Not all the time

Ah, so the problem is really that the BMW is underpowered for the move he wanted to get away with. A few more horses and he'd have cleared with a bigger gap :racing:

Re: Recent drives in Europe

Near Andorra, pretty much any section of the N260. C13/C28 from Sort to Viella is great. https://dl.dropbox.com/s/laltmpgigzqbbjj/2017-09-27%2011.26.30.jpg Would concur with David that Andorra isn't worth the hassle. You can also lose time at border checks since it isn't schengen. Cheap petrol thoug...

Re: BBC News article - Highways England launches campaign to stop tailgating

trials of close following detection equipment were underway on UK motorways last summer, but I don't know how successful they were or whether equipment is at the stage of being introduced. Technology is shit at this sort of thing. Nah, should be easy. Bit of image recognition software and some ML a...

Re: No more classic cars allowed on motorways!

The 70 limit was introduced at a time when we had crossply tyres and drum brakes few heaters and proper demisters; plus cavalier attitudes to drinking and driving and the safety of others. Times have changed and other countries (Spain that I know of) are also thinking of increasing the limit on sel...

Re: No more classic cars allowed on motorways!

Just like some roads have bus lanes (and in the US, high occupancy lanes), I can see in the future we may have lanes on motorways that are only for autonomous vehicles (Eg to allow platooning). They'll still have to cope with idiots getting in the way though. As for 70 vs 80, I think m'way speeds ev...

"Croma driving courses are from £1,000 per person" :o

Doesn't sound like they're teaching much beyond IAM/Rospa. I wonder if the tutors have pixellated faces ;)

Re: Second thoughts on offsiding

If you train for one of the most dangerous manoeuvres to carry out on the road and become competent at it then there is no reason why you should get it wrong. Ok, I read it carefully, and found that bit particularly interesting :) No reason, ever? Do you really believe that? If you get it wrong, ar...

Re: Second thoughts on offsiding

Thanks, Jon. To clarify, are they "100+" locations? The reason I ask is because they are both different. The A832 example I would happily use the full width, but from the view Google provides there is already a full view of the road width and surface, so no view is added from using an ext...
