Re: Headlights too bright

The volume of cars where the lights are like a welding arc would suggest it is by design and not just dodgy DIY ... though that is an issue that is about to be addressed in the MOT but will not catch those under 3 years old. It's not just headlights but brake lights too. The manufacturers have been ...

Headlights too bright

Following on from the discussion about the Mini bus crash where we mentioned overly bright lights, I thought I'd start a separate discussion. This came up in the news today. The comments section on Facebook has exploded. Why has it taken so long for a major organisation to speak up when many of us h...

Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"

Interesting point Gareth about the bright flashing lights. The intensity and number of blue flashing lights the other evening blinded your view. All the emergency vehicles had them on, and the gradual closure of lane one was marked with short cones with blue flashing lights on the top. The lights no...

Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"

Last night there was a massive crash on the A12 heading from Colchester to Ipswich. In the distance you could see loads of emergency vehicles with blue flashing lights. Numerous cars with hazard lights flashing, brake lights aglow. I slowed, braking and using hazard lights and came to halt in lane 2...

Re: Satnav and driving test

The dumbing down of SatNav features continues. :( Bluetooth out was on some car models and most had 3.5mm audio jack that you could connect a cheap Bluetooth transmitter or wired headphones. Explains why the bike ones are so damn expensive. As well as being waterproof they allow preplanned routes fr...

Re: Pedestrian killed by self driving car.

Massive 'hole' in the street lighting there. With hindsight you can see her shows to the left before anything else. Doesn't bode well for over here where a huge number of cyclists look just like that from a side view. I'm surprised as in America they are pretty hot on side on reflectors for cars and...

Re: Satnav and driving test

A quick glance at the screen to register the distance to the next turn is how I've always used my bike SatNag. Recently having 'upgraded' to a modern Garmin Zumo from my old brick StreetPilot I have been experimenting with Bluetooth audio. Once you turn off all the needless warnings for upcoming haz...

Re: I'm bemused...

Call me a luddite if you like, but I just fail to see the benifit of cruise control. What's the right foot for? Nigel. "Luddite!" :) On long drives on major roads it is an aid to avoiding cramp, stiff leg muscles and means when I do get on to the B roads or town I have a fresh leg/foot. W...

Re: I'm bemused...

I haven't driven one but I have noticed an increase in the number of cars on dual carriageways that overtake, pull back in and then slow quite hard, seemingly to give themselves some braking/following distance ... having just jumped into mine! Have I really noticed it? Or have I like you been thinki...

Re: Young drivers

This is not aided by some of the Club's rather unorthodox teachings - e.g. signalling right at roundabouts to go straight on. Really? Just when we thought these people had all but died out. :headbang: Have you seen this written down somewhere, or are they misunderstanding what they have been taught...
