Re: Use of Indicator for Overtaking

Being like Gareth a beneficiary of John Lyons on road training I find myself agreeing with all his comments here. Once I have moved offside the indicator seems to me to serve no further purpose. Changing lanes on multilane roads I cancel my indicator at about the same point that many drivers apply t...

Re: Use of Indicator for Overtaking

My recollection of drives with JL is that the signal before an overtake was to tell drivers behind that you are looking for the overtake- so they are less likely to try to overtake you.

Re: https://www.drivingmasters.uk/

I was amused by the pricing of the tests, level 3 £295, level 4 £495, level 5 £395. I would give level 4 a miss! I wonder what the output is intended to be from these tests. Is it a Pass or Fail? Generally, although there is a difference in emphasis between a test and a coaching session, I would exp...

Re: https://www.drivingmasters.uk/

One member of the team at one time thought he was acquiring the High Performance Course! (I'm sure he is a suitable coach, on that occasion unfortunately for him he did not get what he had been promised). I was surprised how many coaches they have - though no doubt they are all independent and will ...

Re: America, land of the...

After a few weeks of ownership I still find it irritating that every time I start my new car I have to go through a process to switch off speed limit warnings and lane keep assist, and then to put a map back on the main screen and choose my preferred settings for other stuff from the myriad choices ...

Re: ADAS testing

Slightly away from ADAS but.... I have driven cars which are supposed to have alertness monitoring systems a lot over the years, I frequently feel drowsy at the wheel to the point of having to stop, and have sometimes delayed stopping too long to what I judge to be a state of real danger. I have nev...

Re: ADAS testing

I watched the video. He argues that the potential safety benefits of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) have been wildly exaggerated and that including them in 2023 NCAP safety ratings devalues the ratings. He suggests that if they were going to achieve the promised safety benefits we would a...

Re: Lighting...

The times when I feel the need to over-ride my automatic lights are very few and far between. They even seem to cope with fog these days. The thing I dislike about my auto headlights is I can't switch to main beam on empty side streets with lots of parked cars in town. It ignores the stalk position...

Re: Lighting...

The latest highway code SHOULD have said wipers on lights on, instead of the Dutch grip nonsense (not holding the door securely to my mind). The times when I feel the need to over-ride my automatic lights are very few and far between. They even seem to cope with fog these days. When I see an...
