Re: Would you?
The only contribution I can add is that from the start of the video you can see that any oncoming traffic would have to navigate the tightish left (for them) corner. That would give some additional margin over a flat view at distance of a corner of unknown severity that we're usually faced with. Wou...

Re: Left foot braking with automatics
I once used left foot braking entirely by accident when reversing an auto (old style torque converter, so using brakes to control speed is normal in that car). The car stopped very suddenly, and I wondered for a moment whether it was possible to stall an auto. I've no idea why I used my left foot, s...

Unless you have a particularly laggy instrument response on either engine revs or wheel speed...

Re: Being overtaken while turning.
There's always another following car - and most people won't be 'forced' into overtaking unless you've come to a complete halt. By all means try to be proactive at the junction, but trying to be clever 200 yards in advance will just piss people off. As others have said, I'd move right before turning...

Re: Learners - motorways, night, bad weather
But the point is that in those conditions some A roads will be as bad... And if they are legal now there is little reason to exclude motorways... Alasdair Nail / head. This is why I don't like the proposal for only ADIs to be allowed to take learners on motorways - aside from my concerns for the lo...

Re: Learners - motorways, night, bad weather
...I just object to the principle that only ADIs ought to be allowed to accompany them there. Why? Partly because I dislike to see an effective dilution of my rights as a driver (currently I believe that ADIs have no special privileges, aside from being allowed to charge their clients) and partly b...

Re: Learners - motorways, night, bad weather
Partly nervousness / indecision / poorly timed indicators from the learner (no worse than a newly qualified driver though, I'm sure), and partly because other drivers will see the L-plates and act accordingly by braking to give them more space. I did say 'I wonder' - happily I seldom encounter learn...

Re: Learners - motorways, night, bad weather
I wonder - is the reasoning behind keeping learners off the motorways at the moment based on safety, or traffic flow? There seems to be common agreement that some dual carriageways are at least as challenging as the average motorway (possibly more so, because of short entry/exit slips, e.g. the A1 i...

Re: Learners - motorways, night, bad weather
Having seen the quality of ADI tuition a few years ago when my other half was learning to drive, I think limiting motorway access for learners to ADIs only is a poor idea. Also, what use will dual controls be? There's no second steering wheel, so lane control won't be assisted. I should think that u...

Re: Roundabout indicating
Indeed - I don't recall ever seeing a multi-lane roundabout with just a painted rather than raised central area.
