Do you think then that this could cause wear or problems with the transmission over time.

Re: IAM Thruxton Young Drivers Skills Day

Many of us brake with the left foot in autos. Once you're used to it you have good subtlety of control with the left foot. Probably not the first time you ever drive one :D Serious question: is it the case that pressing both pedals can cause issues in some cars? A colleague had an older Polo. Dodgy...

Re: IAM Thruxton Young Drivers Skills Day

Yes, fair point. And what I meant by " whether there's any real emphasis on improving road driving ?" Aside: I did a half day (although it stretched to almost 5 hours!) at Thruxton, years ago - they were using Cortinas ... I took my Metro (1300cc of throbbing 'power') on at the end. It wa...

Re: These shoes are made for walking

Interesting post. My wife, who has no interest in driving/riding always comments when I drive in my walking boots. She doesn't understand how I can feel the pedals through the rugged soles. I've never had any problem, though it is true you can't really feel the pedals, but you CAN feel what they do...

But the point was not just about infotainment systems in cars rather it was about the amount of distraction that they require or encourage. Touch screens are not just a case of something new to learn. That much is simple when the car is stationary and safe - he makes that point later in the video -...

Both. Tired of all this talk about infotainment systems and modern technology in cars. Just new things to learn it is not that difficult , If an oldy like me who has never been taught computers has no problem with it, why do others?

Speaking of crappy assistance... txXH9_lNZ7o Before anyone says... yes, I know he could have turned it off before driving or could have pulled over (addressed in the video)... but the point does rather stand and also speaks to the bigger issue of using Infotainment systems on the move. ETA: You can...

Re: Motorcycle videos

I only watched for 15 minutes but in that time I did not see a single case of counter steer to negotiate curves, bends or turns. I saw bike lean in every case however. Perhaps I need to visit the optician. lol

Re: An interesting, if unsettling, development.

Well it sounds like I’m outnumbered (again). :) Maybe Bill doesn't worry about precisely following the satnav route since it'll fix it up anyway. While I know that , I find it annoying to take the wrong turning. There’s truth in that, in as much as I tend to take the Satnav route with a pinch of sa...
