Re: I'm going to buy a Skōda

I'd be keen to try one of these - I seem to remember they were quite well thought of back in the day:

Re: Clarity of Purpose

I think being 'in the zone' (AKA 'flow' - Wikipedia link) is a slightly different thing, although it's a fascinating and desirable state to be able to achieve. I'd like to know more about the Senna thing though - you'd think he'd have been looking to attain and maintain that kind of state as much as...

Re: Clarity of Purpose

Other road users are overly engaged with, rather than effectively dispatched. This part feels a little awkward as effective dispatch sometimes isn't far away from a brusque attitude towards other road users. On the other hand I like a certain directness in the manner by which a driver negotiates fi...

Re: Clarity of Purpose

In a training context, that sort of thing can appear when the driver is trying to impress - but doesn't actually know what you want /expect to see. Mentally, they know what they consider [e.g.] 'safe' or acceptable, but are trying to drive to your standards rather than their own. That's an interest...

Re: Hi from Stoke

Hello and welcome. Don't sell the Elise before you've done some training - you'll be able to have fun in the Audi, but probably a lot more in the Lotus. Check out the thread about the upcoming Craven Arms / Bishops Castle driving day and come along to meet us if you can. Also, there's nothing unfort...

Hello, and congratulations on the rapid progress through the courses. What's the new car that started you on this path?

Re: Bemused

I have this idea that the non-expert driver's gaze settles somewhere not very far in front of their vehicle, and this distance coincides with the stopping distance from roughly 40mph. In other words, at 40mph they'll be able to cope with anything that happens directly in front of them. This explains...

Re: Reg Local at Bristol IAM, 30 September 2017

I suspect most people could easily be helped to understand the difference between safety-related issues like those, and vanity / administrative issues like the mis-spaced plate.
