Re: First accident...

I'm still not sure it would stand in the UK - the concern is that at the scene you might feel under pressure to admit blame (let's say the other driver is aggressive), or not realise that they are drugged/drunk. I filled one of these out in France once, early in my driving career. All it does is pr...

Re: First accident...

Living mainly in Spain and doing most of my driving on the mainland there is a form that is in general use for minor/some not so minor collisions. The drivers involved both fill it out then compare notes and sign it - that's it and no arguing beyond that point. It saves all this faffing around and '...

Re: On being too polite

In some countries it is accepted that the priority vehicle will accelerate to allow the joining one to slot in behind; in equally as many it is not the custom to move over to allow vehicles to join. The moving over technique is sometimes practiced but certainly not reached the degree of being expect...

Re: On being too polite

'Hi thee behind me satan'....generally works well even in a lowly 110bhp MX5 as long as you don't go below 5k revs.

In Spain in certain conditions and on certain roads you are allowed to exceed speed limits by 20kph if overtaking.

Re: Roads they been a changin'

We have stop/start on our van and at first I didn't like it; however now I enjoy the moments of peace it brings and it rarely causes any sort of problem. It seems intelligent and can judge when to stop/start and when not to (if the vehicle has been left unused a while?) very well. I do not find it i...

Re: Seat Position

Had you thought about adjusting your position during the drive eg; You start off in one position then change to another and back. I do this a lot in our MX5 which does not have an adjustable steering wheel. I generally start off with the seat back as far as possible and the backrest reclined (slight...

Re: Clutch - heel & toe

I wear size 46 size shoes (UK 11) and my feet are wide so most cars are awkward and there always seems to be something to catch my feet on - a bit of the steering column on the MX5; our Citroen Berlingo van however seems better built for shoes more like boats :)

Re: The joys of driving in Sussex!! Webcam footage

What this video shows most emphatically is the hideous state of the roads in Sussex and the amount of rubbish 'decorating' them.
