Re: Riding a bicycle without brakes

It appears to me that in the two clips the pedestrians stepped into the path of the oncoming riders whilst looking the wrong way. If a pedestrian steps into the path of a two wheeled vehicle, even if travelling at slow speed, the rider has little chance. In fact even if they can avoid hitting the p...

Re: Pros and cons of hi-vis

There maybe no statistical proof that any sort of hi-viz works, but in my own experience wearing it earns me more space from passing motorists. Yes I'm not a motorcyclist but a mere cyclist. The best kind I've found is the reflective 360 stuff - pro-viz stole a march but there are now various others...

Re: Run flats to 'normal tyres'

Just also bear in mind, different brands of Run-flat tyre ride significantly differently... On my Z4 I switched from using the OEM Bridgestone run-flat tyre over to Michelin's version (PS2 ZP) and it transformed the car... Current car rides on Dunlop Sport Max RT runflats and (aside from the sport s...

Re: Riding a bicycle without brakes

As a result of this thread, my comments, and subsequent replies - I've been extra vigilant this evening - and still failed to spot the pedestrian cutting a few yards off of their route to the crossing at the lights.... she was on her phone at the time just walking along the pavement, and stepped alo...

Re: Riding a bicycle without brakes

... I think my bike is legal, but even so there are several near misses each week with pedestrians who just don't look to their right when approaching the middle of the road - or don't even look either way because facecrap is more important... Most times I've already spotted them walking between th...

Re: Riding a bicycle without brakes

On the subject of front vs rear brakes... I have disks at both ends... it is without doubt the front brake that stops you, but how come I go through rear pads a lot quicker than front ones :? You've got the levers on the wrong (for UK) bars?! LOL, been there done that, it hurt... More likely ...
