Re: What would an "advanced driver" autonomous car do...?
I've had the EBA (Emergency Brake Assist) on my Civic activate when not required. I was braking quickly/firmly for a dog that ran into the road. The violent braking that ensued surprised/startled me ... and the car behind me! :o He was a reasonable distance behind (luckily) but still locked up as I...

Pedestrians - it's a hell of a lot for LiDAR to process and they'd have some expectation of approach speed.

Re: HIGH STANDARD/FURTHER TRAINING IN THE UK
In my experience, most children are caused by nothing good on telly on a particular evening. There's a whole cluster of birthday parties to go to in my daughter's pre-school group every November...

You missed out the tar and feathers bit and the ritual burning of the flat cap and string-backed driving gloves.

Re: Dead steering: no feedback
Of course not Dave, mass has no bearing on anything at all. You did say you were an engineer? Did the laws of physics change recently, or do you operate in some hitherto unknown dimension where the rules are different? Oh, but wait, we have to have wider tyres and better brakes to cope with those c...

As there's no body language permissible on a forum, I find it wholly appropriate to assume whoever posts on it is an ass as I find that saves time. #decideifImeanttoputasmileyonthispostornot

Re: 40 mph ... Why?
I'm sure it's no big deal, I would prefer to avoid generalisations and labels that's all. Sadly, I think that people who resort to them are all idiots. Please tell me that you missed the 'tongue in cheek' smiley off that bit... Motes and beams dear chap otherwise. If of course you want t...

Re: EU - where did it go wrong?
It's by no means universal, but I've certainly seen it, both when I was lecturing, and subsequently when working with graduates in their first post-University job. There appears to be an inverse relationship between salary expectations and competence. They expect £25-30k but are barely competent to ...

Re: Intensity
In that particular case, is there a particular difficulty with keeping the opposite palm stationay (you aren't going to have to swtich hands anway) and, finishing the pulling down, bring the other hand back across from the opposite hand? In theory no, but in practice you'd have already slid your ha...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?
Don't go on eBay halfway through then... FWIW I wouldn't be in too big a hurry to assume that the UK is suddenly going to be circling the drain because the majority of its inhabitants decided to screw you over (from your point of view - others may have a different view). Deciding to have a flounce o...
