That's so turn of the century. Interior 'mood' lighting is clearly du jour...

Re: Staying safe on a bike
Robin was the chap at Cranfield (and then Imperial later on) who did a lot of analysis to work out exactly what was going on. ISTR (I haven't read the papers since I stopped the old job) that it was a function of chassis stiffness, weight distribution and centre of gravity height. Anything that coul...

Weave is a horrible thing to try and analyse. Adding extra spring-mass-damper systems to it doesn't help that process. Was it Prof. Robin Sharp you were chatting to?

Re: Staying safe on a bike
Just about every traffic officer of my acquaintance and long standing in their role also had large numbers of pins, plates and other ironmongery in their forearms . . . . . . Re: Staying safe on a bike
What are the keys to staying safe, avoiding collisions/issues, on a motorbike? Leave the keys at home... If that sounds a little flippant, it isn't. Just about every traffic officer of my acquaintance and long standing in their role also had large numbers of pins, plates and other ironmongery in th...

Re: One of the dozen
Only in your belief in what my attitude is... My comment was simply that my experience is that, in the sort of competitive situation that is common around here, a cyclist will think nothing of swinging out into the path of a mechanically propelled vehicle - either one approaching from front or behin...

Re: 'Filtering' Accident
Personally, I think you're putting a lot of emphasis on the biker being the victim. I sadly think that there was a combination of naivety and entitlement going on... It is of course hard to separate hindsight from real-time processes. I can't help wondering why, given that the rider could be aware o...

Re: Some news for you!
Yes but no but... 'Basic' AD skills are drive the road, else policemen of varying interest/skill and aptitude would not be able to take and pass the Police courses. Beyond that, when you're talking very seriously about optimisation, then a lot of car control comes in, mainly to do with corner entry ...
