Re: A few more videos

Very nice video Mike and great riding. I though your "position 2 and half" was interesting.

Have you taken the advanced car test as well...Obs test...Masters?

Re: A Very Good Read

...but Tesla would argue you are safer (on average) when in autonomous mode than driving it yourself. I don't believe anyone is suggesting there will be no collisions in autonomous mode in the future, just less. I don't believe a truly autonomous car (as in no input from a driver regardless of route...

Re: Speed limiters mandatory from 2022?

Also from the BBC website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47715415 "...The system can be overridden temporarily. If a car is overtaking a lorry on a motorway and enters a lower speed-limit area, the driver can push down hard on the accelerator to complete the manoeuvre. A full on/off switc...

Re: Speed limiters mandatory from 2022?

And just to add insult to injury, the IAM have come out in full support of this on Facebook... https://www.iamroadsmart.com/media-and-policy/newsroom/news-details/2019/03/27/not-a-big-brother-solution-iam-roadsmart-calls-new-laws-on-car-and-lorry-safety-systems-a-potential-licence-and-life-saver No...

Re: Speed limiters mandatory from 2022?

The new rules include requirements for new technologies, such as Automated Emergency Braking which can detect pedestrians and cyclists, as well as overridable Intell...

Re: Hello all

...So I would venture to suggest that if there's a real disconnect it's between what IAM appears to offer and what their Examiners expect to see Associates demonstrate on their test. Remember you've only experienced 1 group and 1 main Observer...I believe my own group (Bristol Advanced Motorists) h...

Re: Hello all

It's a shame you feel like you do. 'Advanced Driving' is a huge subject and you've dabbled and it doesn't seem to have re-inspired you. Anyone passing should feel proud as the standard is quite high...and some just don't want to leave it there - like the people here. It's not for everyone (sad thoug...

Re: Hello all

Welcome Stubeedoo. Firstly congratulations on passing the advanced test and good to see your learning continues! The IAM RoadSmart course is 'Advanced Driving' - not 'Safer Driving' - although of course the 2 are closely linked. It's about 'making progress' (or up to the speed limit) when safe..i.e....
