Re: A Very Good Read

When using Autopilot the driver must remain fully attentive to what is going on around, and very definitely right in front of him.         Indeed. If that much attention is required then WTF is the point of it. If you’ve ever used adaptive cruise contro...

Re: A Very Good Read

I drive a Tesla and I stopped watching after a couple of minutes. Autopilot is designed for motorways, dual carriageways and A roads with clearly defined lane markings. It is absolutely not designed to be used in the town/city centre environment. This was amply demonstrated by the number of times h...

Re: A Very Good Read

“wholesale rollout of this technology without infrastructure or maturity is reckless.” Exactly. And IMHO early roll-out could lead to some very nasty incidents, followed by some very tortuous legal arguments. Already has. See the various lawsuits against Tesla around "autopilot" causing f...

Re: A Very Good Read

I've always wanted to ask the folk developing AVs in the lovely California (or Nevada) sunshine how it would cope on a Welsh B-road on a foggy, wet December night....

Re: Tesla 3 Vs M3 (TG)

Never mind on a single charge, how many laps can it do before the battery goes into protection mode and limits performance. Then again, the BMWs brakes might melt first

Re: Speed limiters mandatory from 2022?

Been hard thinking this ISA topic. What if one is entering a 20mph zone from a NSL the 20 sign is obscured by foliage. So I haven't noticed the built up area either (yeh I know we are all prefect) the limiter kicks in, do the brake lights show? I'm in 6th so likely to stall. Pity the following driv...

Re: Speed limiters mandatory from 2022?

In fact, it's this "spy on board" which may ultimately have a bigger impact on driver behaviour than any kind of speed limiter. It's easy to get away with reckless driving when there's only a handful of traffic cops around to stop you. Much harder when there's a spy in the cab recording y...
