Re: “Black box” recorders to become compulsory?

I'm tempted to complain to the ASA about "intelligent" speed adaption since it's absolutely nothing of the sort. Presumably when it becomes widespread enough, scameras will cease to exist though, which could be an upside? As for driver monitoring, I wonder whether it will really help when ...

Re: New Audi A6 - not able to switch off Stop/Start function

It's not so bad in SWMBOs car which is manual, but you can force a restart by dipping the clutch. The problem I've had with autos with it is there's no way to tell the car you're about to want power, without wanting it /now/ - eg to slip into a small gap on a roundabout. I guess you might be able to...

Re: New Audi A6 - not able to switch off Stop/Start function

It could be buried in or a consequence of meeting the Euro 7 regulations. Or WLTP assessment program (not sure if that's the same thing). It might also be it doesn't have a stop/start disable button, but with the appropriate diagnostic rig you can turn if off in the software. And not providing the ...

Re: Hazard perception test now features more weather conditions

Can autonomous cars pass these tests? Presumably the software should have some way of indicating it's seen something that means it needs to change driving plan.

Re: Change in police pursuit policy?

Now, weigh that against the likelihood of a prosecution, the likelihood of that prosecution being successful, the level of sentence that the scumbag is likely to get and whether or not he/she will ever actually serve it and, as much as you might like the idea, you have to ask whether it is actually...

Change in police pursuit policy?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-london-46321715/thieves-knocked-off-mopeds-by-police-in-london Footage shared to get the message out there no doubt. I wonder how the training works and who the victims are while the police practice? (or maybe that's not quite what "special training"...

Re: Masters - Safety Vs Progress

Quite so. I'm sure his customers wouldn't expect a proper Masters drive to the airport. I've known professional drivers and ADIs want IAM on their advertising as a selling point, but not drive/teach like that. I'd much rather have a masters drive than the typical one I get  I'd read the brake ...

Re: Shocking driving? Not all the time

Quite rightly, the incident involving the van driver who drove through the red lights on the pedestrian crossing was followed up by the police. I'm just surprised he wasn't prosecuted for Driving Without Due Care and Attention or even Dangerous Driving  Extract from today's BBC website: Near...
