Re: Masternaut in-cab coaching

A very valid point re the employer's POV ^^^ there, userLeft1. However, my point is that to stay "in the green" I frequently during the course of any given shift can't make anywhere near the sort of "progress" that the concept of advanced driving requires........... ................

Re: Masternaut in-cab coaching

Martine, that ^^^ sounds similar to Masternaut. Any "red" gets sent over the 'net, in real time, to a computer in the manager's office. Speeding doesn't show-up on the in-cab display, but that gets sent too - it's read off the vehicle's ECU. I agree that the system probably does encourage ...

Masternaut in-cab coaching

Does anyone here have any experience of this system? The company I work for has recently had these fitted to all the vans on our multi-drop fleet. The system tracks "harsh" driving (acceleration, braking, cornering) as well as excessive idling and speeding. Speeding I understand, and I don...

Re: Hello all

Thank you, Horse, for your reponse. I spent quite a while yesterday morning on a protracted post and it vanished when I thought I'd hit "Submit". Frustrating, isn't it? Am I a smoother driver? Probably not. Could you expand on this? What I meant by that comment is that I don't f...

Re: Hello all

.........accept that I was hasty in buying/taking the course....... Having spent a lot of time since that ^^^ post reading your responses here, and reading other posts on the forum, I've seen nothing yet that dispels my initial feelings, but plenty to reinforce them. You all, without exception it s...

Re: Hello all

Thank you all, in particular Martine, for your comments. Triquet, I concur with pretty-much all your observations. As a driver of 45 years, IAM's concept of advanced driving is somewhat alien to me too. Driving briskly, in an IAM sense, was/is not what I'm about. I'm not a slow-coach by any stretch ...

Re: Hello all

............. suggests a disconnect between how your Observers prepared you and what the Examiner expected. Your comment is very pertinent, yes there does seem to have been a void. TBH, I felt more "in tune" with my observer than either the observer who carried-out my pre-test or the exam...

Hello all

I recently took the IAM course - I scraped a pass with some harsh (I thought..) criticism from the examiner :( Don't get me wrong, I don't think I'm a great driver - I know I'm not much better than average, but I have a desire to be better than I am. I did make some mistakes during the test, but I d...
