Re: Driving instructors and learners - do they drive like each other?

driving around without DSC isn't too clever. Most of us over a certain age have driven for many years without DSC. Is this the new normal, where drivers aren't deemed safe enough to do the driving unaided? I know it's the future, with autonomous mobility pods, but now? I think that can depend on th...

Re: About time I joined in

I dabbled with the IAM hundreds of years ago, but life got in the way and I never made it past a few observed drives in my Hillman Super Minx :car: Fast forward and having spent rather more money than ever before on a car, and being paranoid about bending it (or someone else bending it that I shoul...

Re: Hands on the wheel

Welcome to the forum Allen... There has to be times when you steer with one hand, e.g. changing gear (and handbrake turns?! :)), so a driver needs to be safe driving with one hand... However a part of advanced driving is about understanding / managing / reducing risk - so the question has to be aske...

Re: Associate cannot keep to the speed limit

it seems as though she wants to be within the speed limit just so that she is not done for speeding That would be me. Not you? Is that a problem? Not a problem - but it helps in terms of understanding motivation - and the mental process - if that is her only reason for wanting to be within the spee...

Re: Associate cannot keep to the speed limit

isn't that a sign of disengagement with car / driving though - she was relying on the car to tell her when she was wrong and was so disengaged that she didn't even check that the buzzer was set - a whole heap of assumptions there... maybe she needs to take control of her driving?! take all the elect...

Re: Associate cannot keep to the speed limit

does the auto box have a 'manual mode' - if so, would it work to pop it in a lower gear? Is it all speed limits? Or just the 30mph - if so, perhaps a mental trick of pretending it is 20mph might mean that she can slip over and still be under 30mph I think that one of the issues is that drivers think...

Re: ROSPA now have a public forum

Do you think that they simply added all their members into the forum, or have they really had nearly 4,000 members sign up?! I think that AD Hub is probably the most active AD forum around and we have c. 260 members! We have 66x as many posts from c. 1/15th of the members - which means that our memb...

Re: ROSPA now have a public forum

Presumably have to be / have been a RoSPA member to join as it asks for your membership number...
also intriguing to note: 3,866 members have posted 267 posts within 66 topics. Quite impressive :)
