Interesting post. My wife, who has no interest in driving/riding always comments when I drive in my walking boots. She doesn't understand how I can feel the pedals through the rugged soles.
I've never had any problem, though it is true you can't really feel the pedals, but you CAN feel what they do.

This article has a video that shows the new layout. Madness that no-one thought this was going to cause problems.

Re: Motorcycle videos
Didn't you see me riding recklessly at speed down the wrong side of the road ignoring all those gaps? I do wonder at times if people just comment based on the video thumbnails. The RoADAR page proved they do!

Re: ADAS testing
My take on car tech. My old 'moon bug' shaped Honda Civic that I had for 10 years was an early adopter of EBA (Emergency Brake Assist). It only activated once during my ownership but it was an 'interesting' moment. I was on a straight piece of 40mph dual c/w when a dog ran out of the hedges ahead of...

Re: Lighting...
On a more positive note re lighting, I do get the impression that misuse of rear fog lights, ie lit when they shouldn’t be lit, is on the decline vs 20 years ago? I wonder if that might be an upside of automatic lights, assuming that it never, ever turns on the fogs. Which in my estimation, is abou...

Re: Lighting...
In days of old you might have been prompted to turn on the lights because you couldn’t see the instruments. Now cars are driven with the instruments illuminated all the time and with enough light from the DRLs that the oblivious driver never thinks to turn on the headlights. As a result we encounte...

Re: Lighting...
The times when I feel the need to over-ride my automatic lights are very few and far between. They even seem to cope with fog these days. The thing I dislike about my auto headlights is I can't switch to main beam on empty side streets with lots of parked cars in town. It ignores the stalk position...
