Re: I'm going to buy a Skōda

My problem now is the Skoda is used less and less, and I'm using a 335D BMW as my daily. Does this mean suddenly I am only interested in the short term flings?

Re: Use of ZF 8-speed auto gearbox (BMW and other makes)

I can only comment from basis of 2006 335D ownership but I love the box - 6 speed with paddles and S mode, but I usually leave in D and find when braking downhill the box will shift up one, sometimes two cogs, without being prompted to give some engine braking. On more gentle downhills I find just f...

Re: Tyres - available grip during cornering?

Hmmm, trying to think of any time I think I have pushed grip toward the limit. I suppose if I have perfect vision around a corner and it is 100% clear and conditions are decent, I might "for fun" try and take that corner a little quicker than otherwise I might to see how much grip there is...

Re: New years day drive

Re: Santa list?

I've already received a voucher for car cleaning bits, and cashed it in on black Friday when it was most worth doing. The person who sent it me understood my logic.... (being an accountant....)

On the day I am expecting nothing more than good food, and a fair amount of alcohol.

Re: Limited Slip Diffs?

I suppose the only way to know if its kicking in is whether in a situation of very minimal grip you can hear both tyres scrabbling for grip. However in that scenario I would expect slow speed, proper tyre/chains, so perhaps the feeling of scrabbling is not a tangible feeling whilst driving.

Re: Limited Slip Diffs?

Be aware that when driving on snow/ice, LSD might be useful...although that's less of an issue here than it is on the continent I've only had this once! :car: Was parking near work on one of those winter days about 5 years ago (bearing in mind Devon gets little snow really) and the first 2 foot of ...

Re: Pink Kittens

We had a talk on observation at our last meeting. The video used had the gorilla in as so many expected, but because of that, they threw in a couple of other things which barely anyone saw. Everyone just saw the gorilla.
