Re: Tyres - available grip during cornering?

Hmmm, trying to think of any time I think I have pushed grip toward the limit. I suppose if I have perfect vision around a corner and it is 100% clear and conditions are decent, I might "for fun" try and take that corner a little quicker than otherwise I might to see how much grip there is...

Re: New years day drive

On new years day I didn't drive all day as wasn't 100% sure the alcohol from the previous night (3am finish! :D ) had entirely left my system. I went for a nice long walk instead.

Re: Santa list?

I've already received a voucher for car cleaning bits, and cashed it in on black Friday when it was most worth doing. The person who sent it me understood my logic.... (being an accountant....)

On the day I am expecting nothing more than good food, and a fair amount of alcohol.

Re: Limited Slip Diffs?

I suppose the only way to know if its kicking in is whether in a situation of very minimal grip you can hear both tyres scrabbling for grip. However in that scenario I would expect slow speed, proper tyre/chains, so perhaps the feeling of scrabbling is not a tangible feeling whilst driving.

Re: Limited Slip Diffs?

Be aware that when driving on snow/ice, LSD might be useful...although that's less of an issue here than it is on the continent I've only had this once! :car: Was parking near work on one of those winter days about 5 years ago (bearing in mind Devon gets little snow really) and the first 2 foot of ...

Re: Pink Kittens

We had a talk on observation at our last meeting. The video used had the gorilla in as so many expected, but because of that, they threw in a couple of other things which barely anyone saw. Everyone just saw the gorilla.

Re: Limited Slip Diffs?

I have a limited slip diff (Peloquin) in my road car - Fabia diesel.... :D Whilst I appreciate I did it for trackdays there's definitely a benefit on the road, primarily the pull out of corners. However, under most advanced driving situations I can't see it being hugely useful. Perhaps it aids tract...

Re: Speed limit?

Well I'd say its 70mph whilst there is a barrier in the road, making it a dual carriageway - End of barrier - single carriageway 60mph.

Actually I've just looked closer and there is a very much "token" carriageway separation.... I'd treat as 60 but bet that's up for debate

Roadcraft Online

Anyone used it for either their own personal development, or know someone who is using it / has used it?

Just curious on feedback as thinking in order to refresh for my RoSPA test in about 9 months time, I'll have a crack at that, rather than going through the book. :geek:

Re: Run flats to 'normal tyres'

Type of tyre won't affect the pressure monitoring :) That's usually based on measuring wheel speeds.

Normal tyres are definitely more comfortable than run-flats. My mate had a Cooper S and first job he did was fit Cooper 16s and normal tyres. Became a much more comfy beast.
