Re: These shoes are made for walking
I'm on my second pair of La Sportiva X approach shoes. These are fine in all the cars I've driven in the last 5yrs. I also wear driving shoes with very thin soles with rounded heels which also work well. As mentioned previously above, its when the ankle becomes restrained that pedal control become l...

Here's a link to the Govt's recently, 2nd Oct, released "The Plan for Drivers"

This includes comments on 20mph.

Re: 20 limits - 'the facts'...
They forgot: • Most people will ignore them as completely inappropriate. Not what happens in London, most people now observe them. Cameras may be set at 24, so unwise to exceed 23. I drive in London every week day, that's not my experience. People only drive slowly due to congestion, if there's no ...

Re: Hypermiling
Recent visit to Mallorca the fuel pump price was discounted at the til and the receipt showed the applied discount. Therefore you knew the Govt price reduction was applied. But UK forecourts seem to have taken the majority, if not all, the Govts 5p reduction rather than pass the saving on to motoris...

Re: What gear is best?
The shift gear light is normally based on emissions. Driving schools teach learners to change into higher gears asap. Especially noticeable with younger IAM associates. Encouraging them to use more than 2000rpm before changing gear and to use the torque band of the engine effectively.

Re: When can we expect the new Highway Code?
The cycle lanes introduced for a trial (supposedly) period are doing exactly the opposite of why they were introduced. They have increased congestion and therefore pollution. Every time I have driven this area I've seen zero cyclists in the new cycle lanes. However, our local facebook group on parki...

Re: Declining Standards
Ditto. Last week I had a cyclist pull out on me from the right at a crossroads when I was turning left. Similarly with cars pulling out. Watching drivers have no idea how to overtake cyclists or horses. Pulling out to the center of a road junction to turn right but leaving the rear of the car obstru...
